An Update

Mummy : Have been busy lately with work and other stuffs. As such very seldom log in here and update. Am still coping with Jacko passed on. Thankfully, I have PapaGod and the rest to help me move on. Jacko will be in a little area of my heart forever. Something to be happy about, buddy has been adopted by a very nice couple recently. So happy for him though will miss him as he has been staying with me since early 2010 and this poor boy has had health issue since May 2010. After all the vet review, blood test and medication and changed of diet, his health has been stable since, it takes time to fatten him up again. Went to visit him on Friday (28/10/11), feel sad and sorry that I can't keep him for good. He wanted to follow me back home, that's where my emotion start. Anyway, I have request for home visit and update of him to know he is well and doing fine.

Now that buddy has a forever home. That's mean I have an extra space to take in short term boarding dog. An update on my charges after taking such a long break and take into consideration the cost of living. The charges is as follows:

$20.00 per day (without food) - the owner have to provide their own food for their furbabies, reason is I don't want to upset the dog stomach.
Before checking out - free bath and blow dry. (Basic grooming will be provided should there be a need - like trimming of nail, clean ear, shave paw pad. A simple massage will be given as well).

Mummy has been busy lately with work, crystal (temporary housing) and the rest. Did you miss mummy, I din forget you though I din communicate with you. Now when I see your picture, I no longer tear, no longer tear doesn't mean I have forgotten about you. You will always be in a little part of my heart.

Friday (26/8/11), I went with Auntie Ruth to bring crystal for vet review. The vet dignose her to have Demodectic Mites and will have to go for review monthly. Besides that she was given a number of medications, eye drop for a dry eye and was told she can't eat kibbles and dog treats. She needs to be on home cooked food. Instead of cooking for donut only, I cooked for crystal as well.

Today I called your name, did you hear me? I was calling donut who is still lazing at the sofa and I called out your name too. I miss you so much that I called you. How I wish, I can hold you, touch you and feel you once again. Did you come into my dreams...I believe that though physically you are not around but your soul is still around and you are now running happily over the other side of the world....

My Jacko Boy

Jacko,

Till today, whenever I talk, think and saw your picture. I still cannot control my tears. I went back to work today in the office at Raffles Place as yesterday I couldn't bring myself to work and have to take medical leave but I went to pet's shop office to clear some stuff. Before that I went to collect your photo, it turn out not very good because of the resolution, I was quite dissappointed as this is the only photo that I like best about you.

I ask my cell leader to help me make a nice photoframe to put your photo as she is very good with craft thingy. I message her on saturday the day of your departure. Yesterday she called me that she wanted to deliver the photoframe to me but I told her I will go collect it instead. The photoframe is very nice and she din want to collect any money from me. She told me is her 'pek kim' from her to me for the demise of my beloved Jacko.

You know what Jacko, when I put your photo inside, it turns out perfectly well and I am very happy that from now onwards I can see you everyday and talk to you even though physically you are not around anymore. This is it, hope you like it.

Jacko,

Today is the 2nd days that you are not around. Usually Sunday after church, I will rush back home to shower all at home. Today mummy din go to church neither did I shower the rest. Mummy don't have the mood and moreover I went to the yearly event National Dog Walk at East Coast Park with yaki as Therapy Dog Singapore have a booth there and yaki and me is there to support. How is life over at the rainbow bridge? Seeing you passed away so peacfully yesterday at home, it really pains my heart. Though we only have spend 4 years with each other together. This 4 years is really a blessing to me and yaki. You came to me at the age of around 9 yrs (could be more) as you were once being abandoned and luckily Auntie Ruth found you and claim you back from SPCA and looking for fosterer for you. I wanted to find a companion for yaki mei mei to keep her company so I responseded on the foster portion. I still can remember when you first came over to the house. You are such a good boy, you only mark once and try to hump yaki which I stop and ever since then you dare not do anything. I enjoy watching the chasing between yaki and you. Yaki will just run around the house and you will just chasing behind and yaki would turn and see if you did follow. Is so cute. I really enjoy watching the scene for that 1 year. Then later your hind leg became weak and slowly you lost weight. But you still eat the same amount of food and still like to walk. In order not to stress you further, Mummy try not to bring you for walk. All the while you have been such a good boy even though you are grumpy but you and yaki mei mei are always so accomodating even though Mummy took in boarding dogs at times and later donut, buddy and lately crystal come by. Though you don't play with donut and buddy. You still stay with them in harmony and peace. Of course mummy tell them not to disturb you. Mummy do agreed that I neglected you at times as yaki, donut and buddy are attention seeker, they always crowd around me while you are always alone. Our bonding time is when during bath time, blow dry time each week and of course when I have massage session with you. Other than that, you are always laying down sleeping. I remember few months back, you develop sores on your body and I was so afraid I might lose you. I bring you to the vet. The vet also advise me no point to do blood test for you as you are already so old. Even if I do blood test and later it turn out to have many issues am I willing to come up with that amount of money to give you treatment? Financially mummy is not well do. I believe you know inside my heart that if I have that kind of $, I will sure treat you so that you can live much longer. The vet taught me to use natural healing on you as he told me this is killer sores and your heart is rather weak. Then after that, you slowly recover and you always like to walk and walk around the house instead of laying down all the time. By then, you can't even control your pee and poo. Each time you soiled yourself. I will make sure to clean and clean the area so that you will have clean place to sleep.

I am thankful that I am able to be with you and you passed on though I din saw how it happen as by the time I notice you already motionless and you are no longer moving. Though I choose not to take your ashes back home as you will always be a part in my heart. Each time I saw your stuff I can't help and tears begin to flow. I know I have to let go sooner or later so that you will be happy over at the other end. As Mummy told you, I will not keep the rocking bed for the time being, I believe you will come back to visit me and the rest. You are now an angel watching over us. When you do come do remember to lay down on your rosking bed,

Mummy chance upon this on youtube. She brought me, donut and buddy there as someone wanted to view buddy korkor and she registered me & donut on the spot just for the fun....me & donut was not inside the video and guess what donut was selected as one of the model for the runway pets. So unfair, why am I not selected. (Mummy: you didn't get selected is because you does not allow strangers to walk you, I am glad & proud of you that you are a good therapy dog that brings joy to the elderlies whenever we visit them monthly at BMNH at least you are able to sit quitely and clamly at the lap of the elderlies)

NHC Mthly volunteer service - Apr'11

Mummy went for her mthly volunteer at NHC @ BB ctr. They have kite making and colouring of kite with the PWD client. Overall the elderlies did a very good job and some of the elderlies even help to cut the vegetable to prepare for lunch..

Think Mummy misses those day where she could board dogs over and at the same time earn that extra little income out of her interest and passion. Here are some of the boarding dogs that came on board at the pet's shop that she currently working there part time doing their accounts for them.

Mummy went over to malaysia for the once a year 扫墓 with her maternal uncles,aunties and cousin with grand-ma. This year they have a gathering makan sessioon at her youngest uncle house. See the table full of food, there is still more food to come...

This is her cousin children.

The next morning went to 扫墓, malaysia burial place is big as they have lots of space. See one tomb can hold so many people, unlike singapore one so small.

And me again sighing off with my mischevious look. Why? can't Mummy bring me to Malaysia with her???

Pronunciation dak sund

There are three varieties of Dachshund: the short-haired, the wired-haired, and the long-haired. With each of these varieties there are three sizes. (See Height and Weight.) The Dachshund's body is longer than it is tall, muscular with short legs. It has an elongated head and a slight convex skull, arched with protruding eyebrows. The muzzle is long The jaw is robust with non-pendent lips. The teeth should meet in a scissors bite. The almond shaped eyes are dark red or brown-black. The mobile ears are hanging long on its cheeks. The body has a strong protruding sternum and a moderately retracted abdomen. The tail is carried in line with its back. The short-haired Dachshund's coat should be shiny, sleek and uniform.

Dachshunds have a wide color variety. They are as follows.

Solid colors are as follows: black, red (from strawberry blond to deep auburn), chocolate (brown), isabella (tan or fawn), creme (blond with no trace of red, from golden blond to platinum,the lighter the better) and blue (gray). In the wirehaired variety, creme is referred to as wheaton.

Bi-color dachshunds may be black and tan, black and creme, chocolate and tan, chocolate and creme, blue and tan, or blue and creme. In these combinations, the former color is the base color, and the tan or creme appears on the face and points. Sable is a red base coat with a black overlay. In the wirehaired variety, there is also wild boar, unique in that the hair shaft itself is bicolored red and black.

Description : Patterns and tricolors:

Brindle-brindles should be striped over the entire body and may be seen on any of the above colors.

Dapple-the dappling is presented as patches of lighter color on a darker base color. This can result in a tricolored dachshund. example-black with tan points and silver dappling.If the dappling occurs in the eye, one or both eyes may be blue. Double dapples only occur when both sire and dam are dappled, and results in adding large areas of white to the dapple pattern. Triple dapples occur when a double dapple is bred to a dapple, resulting in even larger areas of white. There have been genetic defects attributed to double and triple dapple breeding.

Piebald-piebalds can be bi-colored or trip-colored. They have a white body with patches of one or two solid colors, as in red on white, or black and tan on white. The patches may range from a few spots to covering over 50 percent of the body. There may be ticking throughout the white areas, or they may be solid white.

In the event of cross breeding patterns, as in dapple to piebald or brindle to piebald, the solid patches display the dapple or brindle pattern. Registry depends on the kennel club the dog is registered with, but in the case of only one pattern being registered, the dog should be registered as piebald.

Temperament : The Dachshund is curious, clever, lively, affectionate, proud, brave, and amusing. Devoted to their family, but can be slightly difficult to train and housebreak, but not impossible. Dachshunds travel well. This little dog needs an owner who understands how to be his pack leader or he will take over the house, and begin to try and tell the owner what to do. If the dog is allowed to take over, many behavior problems will arise, such as, but not limited to, guarding furniture, separation anxiety, food, toys or other objects, snapping, biting, and obsessive barking. They will become unpredictable with children and adults they do not know. If it gets really bad, they may become unpredictable with their owners. They are usually recommended for older, considerate children, simply because most owners do not display proper pack leadership to small dogs, causing moderate to severe protectiveness. A behavior that can change if the humans start being their pack leader. If they do get the proper leadership, they can get along well with children. This breed has an instinct to dig. They are generally okay with other pets, however, once again, without proper leadership from their humans, they can be jealous, irritable, obstinate and very quick to bite. Sometimes refusing to be handled. If you allow your little dog to take over your house, the dog will try his hardest to keep all of his humans in line. A weight which should not be placed on any dog's shoulders, especially one as sweet as a little dog like the Dachshund. These negative traits are not Dachshund traits, they are small dog syndrome traits. Meaning, most owners treat their small dogs like babies, rather than giving them leadership. Rules they need to follow along with limits they are, and are not allowed to do, which all dogs instinctually crave. Dachshunds who have human leadership along with a daily pack walk are wonderful family companions, with excellent temperaments.

Height, Weight : There are three varieties of Dachshund, the short-haired, the wired-haired, and the long-haired. According to AKC standard, there are two sizes, Standard and Miniature. Unlike the AKC, Europe also recognizes the Toy variety.

Standard: Height 8-11 inches (20-27cm.); Weight- over 11 pounds (4.9kg.) at the age of 12 months.

Miniature: Height up to 5-7 inches (13-18 cm.); Weight 11 pounds (4.9kg.) or less at the age of 12 months.

Toy: Height Up to 12 inches (30cm.); Weight 8 pounds (3.5kg.) at age 12 months.

Note: The unofficial terms such as, tweenie, dwarf, toy, teacup or micro-mini Dachshund is not an AKC recognized size variation, however some breeders are using these terms and breeding for a smaller dog. Other unofficial nicknames people have labeled this breed are Wiener Dog, Little Hot Dog, Hotdog Dog.

Tweenie: Weight 12-18 (5-8 kg.) pounds at age 12 months.

Health Problems : Prone to spinal disc problems (Dachshund paralysis), urinary tract problems, heart disease, and diabetes. Dachshunds have a tendency to become overweight and lazy. This is a serious health risk, putting added strain on the back.

Living Conditions : Good for apartment living. They are fairly active indoors and will do okay without a yard.

Exercise : These are active dogs with surprising stamina; they need to be walked daily. They will also enjoy sessions of play in the park or other safe open areas. Be careful, however, when pedestrians are about because Dachshunds are more likely to be stepped on than more visible dogs. They should be discouraged from jumping, as they are prone to spinal damage.

Life Expectancy : About 12-15 years.

Grooming : Long-haired require daily combing and brushings; wire-haired need professional trimming twice a year, and smooth-haired require regular rubdown with a damp cloth. This breed is an average shedder.

Origin : The Dachshund originated in Germany in the early 1600s. Bred to hunt small game such as badger and rabbit, the Dachshund has shortened legs to hunt and follow these animals to ground inside the burrows where they could fight the prey to the death. "Dachs" is the word for badger. Smaller Dachshunds where bred to hunt hare and stoat. Dachshunds have many "terrier" characteristics. They are versatile and courageous dogs and have been known to take on foxes and otters too. The breeds population dwindled during World War l, but dogs were imported from Germany to the USA and the gene pool once again increased. The Dachshund was recognized by the AKC in 1885.

Mummy had a busy day that day, she left the house early the morning. She went to NHC for her monthly volunteer service with PWD. She and her volunteer's friend is playing a game with the elderlies that day and they have got prizes for the elderlies who had the correct answer.

A group of volunteer from VGC have a mini chinese new year celebration with the elderly at BMNH where I did my volunteer with mummy. Mummy was once learning guitar and was part of them, due to time constrain and work committment. Mummy have to stop learn guitar but mummy still loves to sing although she always said she can't sing.

I have been eating barf meal since July'10, my barf meal is not the DIY kind as mummy is still a learner and she is reading up. So in the mean time I am on commercial barf. My commercial barf is from Aussie and here is what I eat everyday.

Mummy is sick, she is having throat infection, flu and cough and she is also busy lately with work as she took up a part time job doing accounts for a pet shop near our place on 3 weekdays evening and 1 saturday. So she will not be updating our blog that often.

During donut & buddy barkday celebration, they both received many presents and one of which is a table. A small table to put their food bowl. It allow them to have better degestion when eating due to their height so they don't have to bend all the way down to eat their food.

It's had been raining since last night and mum wouldn't bring us for walk. She want buddy korkor to do his business outside so the chances for him to eat his poo is minimise. Lately, mum noticed that he don't drink pee pee, mum will continue to monitor him.

Happy Lunar New Year

Apologise for not posting for such a long time. Mum is rather busy lately and I have to beg her for letting me to use the comp.

Let's see if I can recalled using my dog brain:

1) Mum is busy with her work though is only a temp job she is required to update certain schedules.
2) Mum is busy with buddy kor kor diet and also not forgetting the rest of us :)
3) Mum is busy reading book on nutrition and health for dogs.
4) Mum is also planning to leave for Chiang Mai to do volunteer work for 6 days in late May and I overheard she ask grandma to help look after us.

Today buddy korkor and donut didi having their grooming. Aunty E commended that buddy korkor seem to have put on some weight after shave down, he is not that bony compare to last time (mum: I was angry with him on friday night, I spend so much effort and he eats his poo again) and while the two boys is having their grooming, mum make me pose for photo wearing the new shirt that she bought for me last week.

Since we are all so good, mum let us have abit of the bak kwa and it taste nice but too bad mum said can only let us have abit only.

Lastly, we would like to wish all our doggie frens, human frens a Happy Rabbit Year ahead :)

Don't understand why I can't have that freedom to cook better food for my dogs??

Went to brother's house for dinner earlier and Mum nag at me for cooking beef for the dogs as she had a poster of buddha over at the house and she said that is not good. But then our belief is totaly different, to me, is just a picture. Moreover she don't stay with me and she will never will coz. no matter how brother or sister-in-law treat her she still want to stay with his son, her only son. I don't understand why must she interfere with what I do?

Arghhhhhhhhhh.....buddy poo quite alot. Luckily, he didn't eat his poo. Can't help wondering, how is he going to put on weight if he poo so much. But I notice that when I carry him, he is abit heavy, is it a good sign?

It has been 3 days since I have change buddy meal and add in supplemets like life extension dog mix (from google and read up dog mix is a mulit vitamin and contains significant amounts of high-grade nutrients usually reserved for the most expensive human supplements. It contains flavonoids, amino acids, antioxidants, probiotics, essential fatty acids, methylation enhancers, and more.) and I give the rest as well with smaller amount for yaki as she is smaller in size and the enzymes which R pass it to me some time back and give him spirulina daily instead of the alternate day. He still get his B-Complex three times a week as I have stop giving him garlic tablet and raw garlic.

Ah! blur me, forgot to add in the enzymes into his meal yesterday evening, now I make it a point to put into his food in the morning since I am giving him the spirulina in the morning.

So far, I can see that he is doing fine for the time being as I had noticed he had output for the pass 3 days and compare to the last few times, is not much, just nice of course still smelly. I have find a way to stop him from eating either his own poo or donut poo, I will distract him immediately once he or donut poo and I will quickly clear the mess as I don't want yaki to pick up the habit too.

I will shave him down over the weekend to see if he had put on any weight cause with his fur on, I can't really tell if he has put on despite that he is weighing at 5.8kg as at 8 Jan 11.

Oh! By the way, I was so angry with him and yaki yesterday morning as they killed one of my hammie. It really puzzle me how the hell did the hammie ran out of the fish tank and got caught under their paw. RIP hammie.

Have been googling, reading & currently is reading up Dr Pitcam's book to see how I can help buddy to fight the battle.

Thanks to a fren R, she has come up with a recipe for me to feed buddy and I told myself no matter what I will committment to follow the recipe as strictly as possible and that's mean, from now onwards, no more appointment after work for me. I need to rush back to cook for buddy. Of course, I will continue to read up more, find out more and google on dog nutrition & supplement which is my resloution for this year.

My aim is to nurse buddy back to health at least.

Sent buddy for vet review, Dr Tham tested on his T4, good news is T4 is <26 nmo/L compare to the last two visits. But his Blood count & tick fever issue still unsolve. His Hct has drop to 34.3% from 35.7%, Hgb from 11.6 g/dL to 11.2 g/dL His Eos from -2.67 to -3.69. The more I compare his reading to the last round. I am worry.

I really must read, read and read to improve my knowledge on Dog Nutrition & Supplement. I have to read Dr Pitcam's book just like what I have stated in my resoultions, I need to read, trial & error to improve my knowlege & their health.

I want them to grow healthy and happy and live longer becaue of the loves for them. There is still more that I can do for them.

Met Derrick Tan outside the clinic, the moment he saw buddy, he told me that he had seen buddy before at the pet farm and told me that the other time someone actually asked him to take in buddy but he don't want.

Perhaps is all fated that buddy come into my life to stay with me, yaki, jacko and donut. If I can nurse him back to health, it will be another achievement for me. Can I do it?

Home For Pets wishes everyone a fruitful year of 2011 ahead.

Is another new year and this year mummy had her resolution which she want to fufill, though I don't quite understand what is the meaning of resolution..as long as mummy spent more time with us, we are very happy & contented already. Here is mummy resolution

1) To find a perm & stable job
2) To read more about dog nutrition, supplement and animal communication (woohoo! mummy want to communicate with us to know what our needs and what more she can do for us)
3) To upgrade herself (personal development)
4) To look into possibilities to earn extra income (so that she can buy more better food for us)

of course mummy had quite a few things that she wanted to do but these are the most important thing that she want to do at this moment.

And this year there is something we are all looking forward into - that is our new house, mummy told us that we are going to have a new house at the end of the year if is ready, if not it will be early 2012.

Donut didi owner Derrick korkor drop by to visit him 4 days before the new year and bought quite alot of stuff for him from the states, a new bedding, a shirt, a place mat, some toys and a big eating plate, donut didn't use the bedding at all nor play with the toys, most of time jacko korkor or buddy korkor sleep on the bed and I play with the toys..

I used to have a consider have a not a bad job working in finance/accounts sector. Thinking back I have working in the finance sector for about 16 yrs. Until one day I decided to go into the job I always passion about doing - i.e. taking care of furkids (doggie) - provide home boarding for dogs. Eventually, I started off part time by doing boarding at home at a very slow pace as I still need to have a full time job to survive. I awlays believe that if I don't try I won't know what is it like and I will regret if I will to passed on one day.

Then I ended up working in a pet shop as a Hotel cum Day Care Specialist, sound nice, but ended up I have clean and clean everyday, not only the working hour is longer, the pay is lesser than what I have been drawing, of course I don't say that I draw a very high salary but is reasonable. Moreover my Mum keep nagging and nagging and eventually I have to stop the job at the pet shop. (Not because I agreed with her wtih some of her saying but I respect her and honour her coz she is my maternal mother).

I think God has been good to me, I ended up back to my ex company as a temporary staff till to date only lately is that my assisgnment is going to complete soon and they don't require my service anymore. Well, that's mean, I have start all over again, to look for job, go for interview and eventually landed up in another 9 to 5 job which I have no idea how is it like.

Sigh..at the age of 40, I need to start all over again. This is a realistic world, people see your paper, next your age then your experience. Even if you have tons of experience, they will still access you base on your paper and age. If you are younger of course you stand a better chance.

Is this what I call my mid life crisis?...

She was once a breeding dog. She has no home, no owner. Shelter is the place where she called her home, she feels safe there.

She only trusted one particular volunteer in the shelter. Only with him around, she will then go for her walk.

I am glad that I am able to walk you whenever I visit the shelter, though is not a long distance walk, but you trusted and follow me through a short distance. I am glad that you have given me the chance to loved you, to hand feed you, to hug you. If I didn't remember wrongly, you are the first dog that I shower during my first visit.

Dollar passed away on 12 Oct 2010 at around 3.50pm due to kidney failure.

Mummy is rather upset, she had the chance to met dollar before and even walk her, she is a sweet lady.

Lately, mummy have been hearing and know of dogs passed on either due to riped old age or sickness..

She is kinda worry of my kor kor Jacko too. Kor Kor doesn't move around much and spent most of his time laying down, he only gets up when come to food or need to go pee/poo, at times kor kor cannot even control his pee.

Next is Donut, mummy has been taking care of him ever since his kor kor went oversea to work last June 09, his kor kor will be coming back in early Nov'10 and donut will have to go back home after that. Guess is all fated, God had arrange Buddy kor kor to come into our lives early this year, but nothing is irreplaceable, even donut will to be going home, he will have a special place in my mummy hearts just like me, kor kor jacko and buddy kor kor.

mummy: I must treasure those that is around me more & more, each and everyday being able to wake up to be with all my little one is a blessing and to see them come running towards you when you come back from work is also a blessing.

Mummy don't know when is buddy kor kor DOB, but to her birthday is a day that she should celebrate cause it marks the day that we had come to this world to bring joy & happiness to her, so she decided to put buddy kor kor DOB the same as her, 11th Oct will be the day that Buddy kor kor had his new life.

This is my 11yrs old and 5mths old kor kor. He use to play chasing with me but now he spent most of his time laying down, he will go to pee & poo every morning & evening with the help of mummy to support him to get up as his hind leg is very weak, he has lost alot of weight and is very fragile, mummy need to support him during bath too. Though he is not active but he is still very alert when come to food.

This morning Mum woke me up early in the morning. She get ready my carrier, water and snacks. Give me my morning meal and later feed jacko, buddy kor kor and donut and bring me out with her, just me & her.

I wonder where is Mum bringing me to? To my horror, she brought me to the vet. (Yaki; Mum, I am not sick why the need to visit vet?). Later, I realised that she brought me to the vet for my annual vaccination, the vet did a general check and Mum requested a blood test for me. Overall it was good and the vet commented my teeth was good. And I weigh 4kg now.

After the vet visit, Mum had to go to the bank to do some errands and I follow her throughout. Later Mum had her lunch at MacDonalds before heading home. Mum rewarded me a piece of chicken nugget as I was a good girl throughout.

This year CNY, Mum had been super busy compare to last year as we have guest on board. Commie & Momo. Mum not only have to go visiting during the first day and she went over to Malaysia on the second day she also have to ferry between our house and Jurong East (Mum's brother house), she also need to come back on time to prepare food for Commie and also inject Commie. For us is still ok if we take our meal slightly later. Reason why need such a special care and protect his food from us eating.

Commie is a diabetes dog which require injection at a 12 hour interval. Mum said he has lost weight compare to the first time when he was on board with us in June 09. Though he ate he also poo alot which is the reason why he didn't put on weight. He is good boy, once being introduce he know where to pee & poo though he is blind. 2 thumbs up for Commie.

Because of Commie, Mum have to board MoMo with Jie Jie Sera from Milkbone for these few days..

Elfy the Schuanzer

Mum came back in a rush yesterday evening. She needs to sent Elfy to a friend's parent house, Elfy will be staying there for 2 weeks as Mum will be busy during these 2 weeks. Mum packed lots of things for Elfy, his bed which just wash by grandma over the weekend, his food which Mum had prepared and freeze, Mum bought him a tub of biscuit and a rawhide to play with.

We took Uncle Lawrence car and off we went to Hougang which he will be staying there temporary. Mum began to miss him already, you know this morning when out of the bathroom after her shower mum told me that she misses how Elfy used to park himself in front of the door waiting for her.

Mum received an email this morning and found out that Donut had been shorlisted for the Runway PETS 2010 and he is required to go for a 2nd Auditions either on 27 or 28 Feb 10 for the event held in March 11. Heard from Mum that the 2nd Auditions, a model will be handling Donut as in walking him. I wonder how it was like. Too bad, Mum can't bring me along for the 2nd Auditions and the acutal event..

Pets Magazine Runway Pets 2010 - Audition at Bishan Park Dog Run - 7 Feb 10

Mum brought me, donut & elfy to Bishan Park Dog Run on Sun. It was the first time all of us include Mum went there. The Dog Run is very big, bigger then the West Coast Park Dog Run. Today there is an audition for a fashion show and Mum registered me & donut just to let us have the experience on how it was like. (Yaki: Mum didn't bring her camera, she left it in her office, Mum is getting old liao, wonder one of these day will she forget me & kor kor???)

Mum also arrange someone to see elfy at the Dog Run too. The couple seem to be quite nice and brought elfy for walk and run. But Elfy keep barking and growl at other dogs, he almost got into fight again with other dogs and keep disturbing a schuanzer ger, the poor ger keep whining and Mum had to pull him away to walk him on leash.

Heard from Mum later that, the couple adopted another dog from the shelter and the dog are much friendly and get along with other dogs.

Mum sign me up for a volunteering fashion show at Singapore Poly on 03 Feb 10 before that Mum have to go for 2 rehearsal 1 without me and 1 with me so that I will have a feel of how is going to be on the actual day. Since Singapore Poly is just 2 bus stop away from where we stay so Mum make me walk with her to & fro from our house to there. I was deadly tired after that and immediately the next day, Mum brought me to her office for half the morning as in the afternoon We (Mum & Me) is going to Mindsville for a special Pet Therapy Session with the residents there as Channel U is Filiming how TDS do Pet Therapy Session. Heard that it will be telecast on TV on 23 Feb 10 at Channel U. Mum did not take photo of the Pet Therapy Session as her camera battery is flat after taking one & only photo of me sitting at her office desk than she realised. (Yaki: Blur Mum).

Teeth Scaling

Human go dental half yearly to check for tooth decay and cleaning, so do dogs. Yes, dogs go dental too, I mean teeth scaling and those non operation type. Up till now Mum was still wondering does we (dogs) feel pain?

On 22/1/10, Mum brought me & Elfy for dental, actually Elfy is the one that needed teeth scaling the most,he got very bad breath (he was an abandon dog that is still waiting for his forever home, he is temporary staying with us) Mum brought me along too to have my teeth clean as well. Mum didn't manage to took picture of us before and after the dental to see the difference.

Friends rescued a male MS from Ericsson Pet Farm. Apparently he was abandoned at the farm & they kept him for a couple of months. He's now currently being fostered by me. A very lovely & sweet boy. Mum told me Wendy will be coming to stay with us for 2 weeks in times for christmas & new year.

Mum brought me & donut to HortPak on 27 Nov 09. (Yaki: Apologized for the slow update, Mum getting old Mum: lol). The weather is so hot and we walk barely for 1/2 hours, we were panting like crazy, Mum keeps asking us to drink water, seriously we are just tired and not thirsty.

Apart from us there is only Baubbles & Coffee and we saw one Lab along our way. There isn't any another doggie. We are just like and exhibit for people to see and comment. Donut even run away twice and poor Mum have to chase him back. (Notti Donut).

This is one thing that Mum must have in her fridge. Mum add a teaspoon to our drinking water daily and she uses it to kills ticks as well and is 100% effective. I love to lick my paw and Mum dillute it in water and wipe my paw to prevent me from licking.

Kor Kor have been staying with us for 1 year plus. Remember the first day when he came over to our place with Auntie Ruth. He is so insecure and whine shortly after Auntie Ruth left our place. Later, he began to settle in our place and Auntie Ruth and Alice came to visit him often, they bring us treats & foods as well.

Kor Kor use to chase me around the house very often and I enjoyed and likes to turns around to see if Kor Kor is behind me and I would run with the toys. But now he can't chase me as often as he could, all he do is just laying down and got up only when he needs to pee/poo and when foods is ready. He is also very grumpy, whine & bark when I play too roughly with others playmates, he is also very protective over me. Mum had been feeding him glucosamine, hopefully it might help him on his hind leg problem.

TDS have a road show on 13 Dec 09, Mum bought me there. Lots of public especially young kids carry me and bring me for walk, I was very worried that I would be separated from Mummy. Luckily Mum is always within my sight and I will run to mummy whenever there is a chance to ask for her rescue. Too bad Mum did not manage to take lots of photo that day.

Mum is very busy on this day, she needs to attend a friend's wedding in the church and also bring me for my monthly threapy session at Bethany Methodist Nursing Home. They have a christmas celebration with the elderlies.

We took unlce Lawrence car and Mum requested uncle Lawrence to look after me for about 1 hour while she go attend her friend's wedding. Uncle Lawrence told Mum that I whine for a while and later stop and become friend's with him and even slept on his chest for 1/2 hour. (Yaki: of course I whine lah, thought mummy left without me Mum: ya...give you away...)

Upon reaching BMNH, we saw Stallion and Silky with Charlie & Mabel and Polar was behind us...there is a special reindog cart that will trpt all the small dogs into the Hall where the elderlies is waiting for us..I was inside too...we saw quite a number of new therapy dogs and their furparents as well. Jappy & DoMo is one of them.

She is on board with us on 10/10/09 and went back home on 11/10/09 afternoon. Heard from Mum that she refuses to eat, mummy is so worried as she need to take her medication. Aiko is very shy, I keep barking at her and she hide herself most of the time.

Bone Day

Every 2 week Mum will prepare Big Bone for me, kor kor and donut to chew. It helps to clean our teeth as well though Mum give us weekly brushing and also helps us in exercising our lazy jaw. This is how the bone look like before serving to us.

After 1/2 hour later...it disappeared as the meats went into our tummy...

There is a big tick running around the house lately and Mum didn't bother to kill it and even let it running around to chase us. It not only go round disturbing me & donut, it also go round sitting on our back. Mum even took photo of the tick....

We have a guest in the house after Aiko left, she looks like donut but her fur is white in colour, she is very timid, shy and anti-social also. The food that she ate is also very different from us, heard from Mum that she has sensitive skin and on a very strict diet She will be staying with us for 9 days.

This is the food that Pebbles ate. This is before adding in all the medication and protein.

This is ready to be serve to Pebbles. She just gobble the food in less than 5 secs.

Raining

It has been raining lately either in the afternoon or towards evening. Mum hates the rain as she can't take me, kor kor & donut out for our daily walk....in order not to bored us...she play catching with me and donut will just follow wondering what Mum and me are doing..as for kor kor, he just laying at his comfort place and rest...

The Search of Astroboy dogs Contest

Remember few weeks ago, Mum was busy dressing Donut up for the Astrodog Contest. Donut came in 1st runner up for the contest.

Till today, I still can't believe donut got his 1st runner up..I guess his furparents Derrick Kor Kor & Sarah Jie Jie must be happy. Sometimes, I can't help but to feel sad for him, wonder his Jie Jie close to him? I saw her visiting him once and never saw her again..Mum told me, his Jie Jie need to work shift and is staying quite far at Pasir Ris where Mum do volunteer work at a shelter there.

At times, I feel left out as Donut is very attention seeking. I am happy that Kor Kor & Me have Mum love, love everyday..and I have lots of furries
friends that came to our house to stay once a while.

Mum was so worry about donut when he don't want to eat and drink. Luckily, a lot of Jie Jie, Kor Kor share tips with Mum on what to do. Marcus Kor Kor also share precious tips with Mum, asking Mum, what did donut ate? when he ate? He asked Mum to fast donut for 24hrs and gave him honey water + 2 tabs of charcoal. I was curious and slip abit of the water too. It works, donut starting to eat a little the next morning. Mum was so relieve. She gave Kor Kor charcoal tabs and honey water as well cause Kor Kor also have stomach upset the same time, but Kor Kor still eat as per normal.

For now, Kor Kor & Donut only eat rice + egg for their daily meal.

Donut is sick

Donut was still well on wednesday, after dinner at around 9pm+ he started to vomit, he vomitted in the middle of the night, the next morning and afternoon. Mum decieded to brought him to the vet and I tag along as well since I need to go for review for my ear infection.

Vet told Mum that my ear infection is better but still require to clean with the lotion for the next 3 days and to avoid feeding me chicken for the time being. As for Donut, the vet told Mum alot of technical term in regards to his condition which of course Mum have lots of ????? mark with her. The vet prescribe some medicine for him.

Donut don't have the appetite to eat and drink, luckily he still take his medication which Mum feed him as prescribe. He don't have the energy and is not active as before.

Mum is praying for his speedy recovery..

AstroDog Contest

These few days, Mum has been busy dressing donut up and taking picture of him as Mum want to enter him for a contest.

I still can't help thinking what kind of contest donut can enter into, unlike me..Mum submitted one of my photo for Adorable Mini Dachshund Contest..don't tell me there is this contest call 'Adorable Schnauzer Contest'??

Donut is very prune to have ticks and recently Mum found some on him, usually I will have 1 or 2 as well because I always play fight with Donut.

Mum was very pleased recently as Marcus from Noo Age recommen a skin spray to her, the skin spray not only treat skin conditions it also wards off parasites, Mum have been applying on me, kor kor and donut when she bring us for our daily walk and discovered that the ticks that she found has been dead.

Happy Barkday Donut - 20th Oct 09

Mum likes the month of October coz. she turns 1 yr wiser, not only that, October is also World Animal Day. And today is the day where Donut was born too. Donut turns 2 today and I heard that Mum is bringing us to K9 for a mini celebration on Saturday and to an animal blessing service also.

How times flys, Donut stay with us for 4 months already. Here is some picture of him, see the way he enjoy the pork ribs that Mum cooks for us.

Mum sent Donut for gromming & spa at Noo Age on Saturday 17 Oct 09, as Mum wanted to groom Donut before his birthday. See he looks so neat and smell wonderful after the session..Mum took some funny picture of him..

Time to Change

Eversince Mummy transfer to another department, she came back on time every day unless there is event going on as she is now working under an event management team. She make an effort to walk me, kor kor and donut unless raining or just after a downpour, no doubt she also use to walk me and kor kor when she was on a last post but sometimes she have to work late to close accounts.

Mummy has been telling me that she wanted to convert her dog sitting part time business into full time as she can forsee next year she will have lesser time for us when Singapore Garden Festival event kicks off prior to July and she don't quite like the job. She don't mind learning new things but she still prefer to do works that she have passion and interest in it, that's why she choose to work in accounting line and now she wants to change her entire work life to take care of dogs if there is an opportunity...

For now, she will just hang on there first till she got her bonus.

Mum is a volunteer of TDS and she enrol me to be a therapy dog as well. Every 2nd Saturday of the month we will go to Bethany Methodist Nursing Home at Choa Chu Kang to visit the elderlies there. The uncle & auntie likes to pat me and make me sit at their lap. The uncle & auntie feeds me with my favouriate treats..I don't enjoy sitting on their lap but I enjoy my treats.

Mum brought Donut and Me to Sentosa this morning. We took Uncle Lawrence's car, he fetch us together with mum's friend and 2 other furry friends. On the way Donut & Baubbles (Mum's friend Dog) keep quarrelling with each other while me & the other just relax and enjoy our journey there. Upon reaching Sentosa, Donut & Baubbles almost fight with each other and has to pulled away. Mum have to pull me and Donut to the sea, honestly, we don't enjoy the beach at all although Mum keeps saying I (Yaki) can swim. After spending a couple of hours at Sentosa, Mum's friend and Mum decided to leave the place and bring us all to K9 instead.

I like to thanks Michelle for responding to my post for dog boarder in doggiesite. I wanted to take the time to tell her what a wonderful experience she had provide for my Jack Russell furkid ‘Nemo’, that I could bring my parent on a short holiday without worrying about Nemo.

I found Michelle to be accommodating to my requested schedule and financially reasonable. Upon meeting Michelle, I was struck by her calming effect on my dog, her house was well kept- which was reassuring to me.

Michelle communicated with me on first 2 night for the 3 days stay, and maintained a care and professionalism throughout. I would not hesitate to recommend her for anyone in the area, and would be pleased to give further information if needed.

I was pleased that Nemo could be in someone's home who would care for him and not being locked in a cage all day . Thank you for having this service for people who believe that dogs are not prisoners and deserve a home to stay in while their Mommies and Daddies are away.

Donut - Long Term Boarding 21/6/09 to 1.5 years

Donut..is the first dog that I have accepted for Long Term..1.5 yrs. Initially, I have asked myself again, again..am I sure to board him for long term? Am I afraid of attachment/bonding..I believe is normal or naturally to have bonding and even attached to the dog that have spend time with you no matter how long or short is the period.

Though he is untrained, I managed to outdoor train him during the 1st month when he was with me and now on off if is rain and did not bring the dogs for walk, he will either anyhow pee/poo or pee on the newspaper..each time when he did it in the newspaper, I will praise him..
